STOR Portfolio Surpasses 400MW

With further projects completed in 2019, Kemada now exceed the 400MW milestone for completion of Short Term Operating Reserve (STOR) projects within the UK.

Working alongside various specialist contractors during an 18-month period, Kemada have successfully delivered three power generation plants with a combined capacity for this customer alone of 50MW to support peak demand on the electrical supply infrastructure. Kemada have an extensive portfolio designing & installing both mechanical & electrical works associated with short term operating reserve (STOR) sites. These power generation plants support peak demand on the electrical supply infrastructure supplementing electricity to the network using gas generator turbines to convert gas into useable electrical energy.

The three new plants, containing 25 containerised gas powered gensets to deliver the 50MW achieved the following milestones:

  • 50MW of Power Installed across 3 Power Plants.
  • 32,500m (32.5km) of Cable Installed.
  • 3,700m (2.3km) of Heavy Duty Cable Containment.
  • 16,000 Site Operative Hours.
  • Delivered over an 18 month period achieving all project milestones and completion dates.
